Victor Hugo Exhibition
Timed to coincide with the arrival of Les Misérables to Her Majesty’s Theatre, the Victor Hugo: From Page to Stage exhibition at State Library of Victoria brings together an extraordinary collection of rarely seen material from around the world.
The exhibition takes visitors on an exploration of writer, poet and artist Victor Hugo’s larger-than-life existence in the Paris of his day, and shows how his personal experiences shaped his masterpiece, Les Misérables.
Victor Hugo: From Page to Stage brings together rarely seen original manuscripts, photographs, paintings, drawings and publications to reveal Hugo’s passions and politics, family and social conscience.
